Aspen limbs arch
canopy of golden leaves
over abandoned road

Ponderosa pine forewarn
can hear it coming
in the crowns

With each gust
quivering shakes free
flaxen leaves flutters down

I alone watch
intruder in this world
awestruck in solitude

Rest upon a rock
eat my sandwich
drink in honey colors

Beauty awakens
dormant longings
restores hope
