Untethered (17-115A)

       Untethered

Panic in wide open space

Drift in expanse untethered

Alone with my fears

Deceptive story that hear

Interrupt the story

Rest while adrift

Change perspective

Embrace the gift

Be gentle to soul

Long journey to whole

Face fears of past

Destiny to cast

Blossoms Fall

      Blossoms Fall

Water playfully drips
Snow melts
Heavy snow
Falls from trees

Meadowlarks joyfully sing
Sounds of life
Entwined together
Stop and observe

Lilacs laden with snow
Purple contrasting white
Short bursts
Vibrant colors

Wind and warmth shakes
Leaves and branches clean
Soon beauty's damage
Revealed as blossoms fall

Video is of the Spring snow melting today as bushes are starting to bloom. A typical high plains Spring.

So Slow

             So Slow

As we journey together on fire
We meld desires
Passion grows
Love ever so slow
Draws out the dross that stains
Exposing deepest pains
Maturity gain
Never be the same

Herd Ways

                Herd Ways

Horses coming in from the pasture
They gather a quarter mile away
At the bottom of the hill
The race up begins

They crest the hill
The lead mare slows
Energy dissipates
As prepare for sharp turn

Into the open face shed
They tumble into place
Dominant mare and gelding
Others take their places in the rain

Standing

Standing

Standing in lush green
High plains in the Spring
Edge of Great American Desert
In territory fight chased away

Warmth of early day
Primal beauty awakes
In the creek bottom
Standing proud in the grass

Transplant

            Transplant

In the ashes prepare the ground
Push the shovel down with my weight
Scoop out the dirt, repeat
Earth ready to receive

Work with the soil
Prepare the roots
Planting beauty in the debris
For the future what will be

Sprinkle with water
Baptizing new life
What was dead
To live again

Greater Than

     Greater Than

His love is greater than
All my sin and shame
All sorrow and pain

His love is freely given
Always offered
Often refused

His love is redemptive
Washes me clean
Resores my place in Him

His love
Beyond understanding
Heals the mind and heart

His love
Mixed with mercy
Full of grace

His love
Hope to the hopeless
Life to the dieing

They Spill

                         They Spill

As the herd saunters by on the narrow road
They meander down the hill
Picking up speed as each hoof falls
Until they spill out in the wide pasture

Galloping free in the open prairie
Reminding of days long ago
When boundaries were undefined
And fences didn't divert the flow

Picture is of part of the mob running free. About the Author:  Brian Bucks lives on a small horse ranch in Western Nebraska and is a husband, father, electrical engineer, and poet. (17-103B)

Roots Remaining

               Roots Remaining

In the quiet place where soul is still

Explore the places with resistive chill

After all these years roots yet remain

Believe its gone just to find I'm the same

Heart aches in truth of slow transformation

Wonder if will ever get to blind spot

Internal source, spring of trauma and pain

Until its drained, results the same

Oh God I am in desperate need of You

Invite You in to touch this place

You are my Source and well of Living Water

Cleans the pollution in my well

I choose to cooperate with You

Align myself with You

Surrender myself in this place

Into Your loving care and arms.

You're Gonna Be Ok

A little different blog post, a different form of creativity. Be blessed and encouraged as you listen.

Song is by Jen Johnson called You're Going to Be Okay. All images were taken by our family.

Dance with Me

     Dance with Me

Take up my invitation
Take the step
Co-labor in My creation
Follow My lead

Give and take in the dance
Fluid motion melding together
Gaze in My eyes risk the glance
Union purges and merges

Sifting

                    Sifting

A season of sifting
Where what can be separated is separated
Undone place where fallenness exposed and stripped
A shaking by Truth out of loving kindness
Either makes, breaks, or both

Pleasing to Father that turn and not harden heart
Softening and tenderizing of heart and being
Like meat through a tenderizer
Meant to soften and tear away
Oil of the Lord applied and worked deep

Tenderized so seasoning becomes inseparable
A flavoring of sacrifice pleasing to Father
Pulling close to Him
Allowing His hands to press deep
Becoming all He created me to be

Dance with Father

      Dance with Father

Take up the invitation
Surrender all hesitation
Experience a new sensation
Explore depths of salvation

Give and take in the dance
Fluid motion melding union
Gaze in My eyes risk the glance
Union purges and merges in the dance
