Autumn's Rose

Autumn's Rose

startles me
as water plants
not expecting new
buds and blossoms

rouge red
color of soft lips
press into
scent of rose

tickles my nose
early September
taunts of Spring
before frost arrives

beauty disrupts
my thoughts
pulls me
into present

how a simple discovery
shakes thoughts
free from
ruts worn deep

A bid for more
Vulnerability offered

A silly flower
Heart that bleeds
