Great Poets

               Great Poets

Find myself in the library.
Across from great poets.
Contained in the books.
Though long dead words still live.
Reminding me that voice has eternal element.
In university far from home.
Western edge of South Dakota voices still speak.
Thoreau and Angelou stare at me from the shelf.
Coincidence I sit at the table and look up?
Having to pick the book off the shelf.
Feel the paper and see their voice.
Beckoning for the thirsty to drink.
Awakens the sleepy soul.

About the Author:  Brian Bucks lives on a small horse ranch in Western Nebraska and is a husband, father, electrical engineer, and poet.

Image is from the library at Black Hills State University.
