Morning Image

Morning Image

Dawn breaks faintly
headlights still glow
coyote darts across earthy gravel road
fluffy tail 'n wiery frame full throttle
'til fades into winter's brown prairie

Poem 20-062z
A moment on the way into work this morning.

January Sky

January Sky

Dawn breaks hard to the east
mauve brush soft upon eyes
Laramie Peak sprinkled cold white
reflects beyond retina into soul

Slows the pace of thoughts
beauty pulls fiercely upon eyelids
directing me to drink in
fleeting moments of splendor

Triple Point

Triple Point

Gray sky at the triple point
not snow, not rain, perhaps sleet
vaguery of sunrise
murky as my ruminations

Truth has this way
of slicing open self deception
lancing the infection
draining unnecessary suffering

Through Father's grace
redemption comes
parting the sky
with light again

At Sunrise

Fall's brown brush
paints North Platte River escarpment
clouds mauve and gray
against aqua blue sky

Touch of snow
frosty's coat
reminding seasons change
beckons renewal

Clarity as look out
cool wind caresses
soft flesh cheeky rouge
canvas changes as sun rises

Reflects

Reflects

Cold awakens
 security light's glow
  frost sparkles in purity
   brushes across earthy browns
as if diamond flecks dust the ground
 on limbs and blades
wood and tin

Hushed

the land lay quiet
irrigation stopped
fog envelops
shrouds near and far

now all that's left
dampness clinging
sparkles prismatic
in day's young light

Yielding

Yielding (18-018Z)

As I open the door morning's
Soft pink sky greets me
Tender pinks and reds soon
Give way to light yellow and grays

The liminal moment
Of dawn recedes
Brilliance now masked
Heart reluctantly concedes

Beauty hard to see in routine
Eyes dulled in life's fray
Longings now clandestine
It's covered with the day

Soft Light

Soft Light (18-011Z)

Of morning

always inspires
awe

Palette of color

clouds reflect
glory

A
nother day

grateful to
wonder

Gray Light

Gray Light of Dawn in Shroud of Fog
This Morning in Western Nebraska's North Platte Valley
Gray Light of Dawn

Fog and frost paint the air.
Filtered gray light of dawn.
Yields to brilliant sun.

Another morning to empty cares.
By nature's beauty drawn.
Another day's race to run.

Discover new depth of relationship share.
Live in the moment before it's gone.
Live in awe, allow it to stun.

Coyotes

                 Coyotes
Like ghosts the pair of coyotes moved silently down the property line,
In the predawn hour, double take as they lope weary this time.
They don’t turn but know we are here,
They outrun all their fear.

Pinkish horizon painted on rippling clouds,
Just Molly and me, the silence loud.
Our early morning routine, peace as sun rises,
Grateful for another day with all its surprises.

In the distance hear the horses at the shed,
Restless and wanting to be fed.
They all face our way as return,
Bobbing heads, tummies yearn.
