Morning Commute

      Morning Commute

In the predawn hour
Shadow takes form at side of the road
Mule deer deciding on shoulder
Break hard as sudden pivot and bounds away

Tail lights spew red
Back into the shelter of darkness
We each resume our journey
Shadows melting as sky lightens
